Hong Kong Island Paddle Club and the Victoria Recreation Club would like to thank all the new teams and our loyal regular teams for competing in the 12th annual Dragon Boat Regatta at Deep Water Bay. We hope you enjoyed yourselves and that the event was a memorable one in this full season of dragon boat races.

We would like to extend our thanks to our sponsors and supporters: Appetito, Carbon Care Asia, Fiji Water, HK Olympic Committee, HK Shark Foundation, KC Coffee, Powerbar, Sloop Yogurt, and Typhoon 8 Paddling Products and hope to see them next year.

Thanks also to the energetic MC, Simon Taylor, and his companion, “Miss V-in-the-House” Verena Wong, for entertaining us the entire day. We would also like to thank the Hong Kong Rowing Association for providing the officials and timers, and thank all the volunteers on the day without whose help this regatta would never have happened.

We had a record number of79 teams participating this year with over 1,500 paddlers, supporters and officials attending. The races were highly competitive with sub-sub-seconds in between the teams at the finals. In particular the women's final at 0.15 of a second!  We would like to thank you for your patience with the challenging race start line-ups on such a windy day — we will improve this next year.

And talking of next year's Deepwater Bay Regatta — this will take place on
27 May 2012
. Please mark your diaries now.
We look forward to seeing you all on the water.
